About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Contract Accountant to join our growing team in West Sussex
Base location can be flexible (2-3 days per week onsite will be required for the first few months)
As a Contract Accountant you will:
Member of the contract senior leadership team, contributing to the overall strategy and performance of the contract to meet agreed business and service objectives.
Responsible for all aspects of management reporting and financial control of the contract. Responsible for Budget of circa 15m with full P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow. No direct reports, but input into Commercial
What you'll be doing
Key Accountabilities:
To act as a business partner to the contract.
- Work with commercial, operational and senior leadership team on the preparation and delivery of business plans, budgets and quarterly forecasts.
- To implement and own a robust contract forecasting process both profit and cash.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures
- Monitor financial and non-financial KPIs.
- Understand and meet customer requirements, agreeing and implementing service levels and utilising feedback to improve service delivery.
- Work with operational management on cost control and monitoring and control of overheads.
- Provide financial evaluation for all contract initiatives and commercial changes.
- Operate the companys risk framework to identify and manage potential risks and opportunities.
- Establish good working relationships with other team members (particularly commercial) and contribute to overall team objectives.
- Prepare monthly contract performance schedules, including profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow together with commentary and analysis.
- Responsible for preparation of contract quarterly forecasts, annual budget and input to three year plan
- To proactively support and influence contract management
- To understand and report on contract risks and opportunities
- Preparation and reporting of activity analysis (service lines, pain/gain, lump sum, fleet utilisation, overtime reports etc).
- To review and challenge WIP model and produce month end WIP/Overmeasure balance
- Review and control of contract stock.
Who we're looking for
- Professional Accountancy Qualification (CIMA/ACCA or Equivalent).
- Good financial and commercial acumen with knowledge of budgetary control, profit & loss and financial reporting.
- Good communicator and strong inter-personal skills
- Prepared to challenge assumptions to ensure complete and accurate reporting
- Ability to analyse complex data with accuracy
- Knowledge and experience of risk management
- Strong IT skills and knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word etc
