Reporting to the Director, 1FSS, the candidate has the primary responsibility to provide leadership guidance for the strategic and operational direction for the Payroll department. The role will oversee the entire payroll process to ensure that the department provides services as agreed in the scope of services to their stakeholders and ensure that they are of the highest quality. The Head will also manage client/third party service to establish and review client service standard for the payroll department.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage department's full spectrum of payroll activities based on agreed scope of services by ensuring highest quality standards which include Pre-payroll, payroll and post-payroll.
  • Drive process consistency and standardization to optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • To manage or take part in projects to drive efficiency
  • Maintain oversight of staffing requirements, staff development and training needs
  • Establish, maintain and develop client and/or third party relationships
  • Establish and review client service standards for Payroll department
  • Develop the overall work plan and key performance results of the Payroll department
  • Ensure process integrity and compliance with regulatory and audit requirements
  • Development effective internal controls for key processes
  • Build and maintain the budgeting of the Payroll department
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, regular feedback, coaching and developmental experiences to staff
  • Promote an environment of positive employee relations within and across departments

 

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or ACCA equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years of working experience in a finance function or financial shared service center and prior experience in a shared service center would be an advantage.
  • Exposure to end to end payroll processes and in-depth knowledge of best practices within this function
  • Strong Project Management and Process Improvement skills
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to manage and develop team members
  • Analytical and numerical ability and able to problem-solve
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills and adept at working with multiple groups of stakeholders simultaneously
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Meticulous, resourceful and have a positive work attitude
  • Proficient in SAP S4 Hana, MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Experience in large scale ERP project management (SAP S4 Hana) and RPA implementation will be an added advantage
