The Role

As Senior Continuous Improvement (CI) Portfolio Lead, the incumbent will support the process in achieving the delivery of their Continuous Improvement programme. The role provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their CI skills to make a real difference to the end to end Financial Operations (FO) processes and help embed a strong CI culture.

In addition, this role is a unique opportunity to contribute to the next phase of the Finance CI journey aimed at growing CI capability, delivery and mindset in Finance

Purpose

  • Lead complex Continuous Improvement projects from scoping to delivery
  • Support the development of CI mindset through various improvement initiatives
  • Coach staff in delivery of CI projects using appropriate CI methodology
  • Drive bottom line benefits to assist Shell Finance to close the value gap

Accountabilities

  • Work with the Continuous Improvement team and stakeholders across supported portfolio to define process improvement priorities and to create a strong continuous improvement culture. Identify the improvement needs and take the initiative whilst ensuring the usage of the correct project selection and project prioritization criteria.
  • Subject Matter Expert on CI, to coach and train Finance staff on the use of this methodology for CI projects and to cultivate the continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ensure that effective quality processes are adhered to and that appropriate tools and processes (e.g. Lean Sigma) are being used to drive Continuous Improvement.
  • Manage and mentor CI practitioners
  • Define, scope and lead process improvement projects in alignment with overall CI Finance strategy and business priorities.
  • Own the outcome of rigorous, auditable control plans and measurements to drive sustained process improvements (for the projects under her/his supervision)

What we need from you

  • Certified Lean Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt preferred; If not certified then a strong continuous improvement mindset is required and desire to certify as Lean Sigma Blackbelt within two years
  • Minimum University degree, preferably with at least 5 years work experience
  • Prior experience of Shell financial processes and controls is highly desirable
  • Experience in facilitating CI workshops and coaching/ mentoring activities

  • Passion and sense of urgency for executing performance improvement projects
  • Change agent with strong credibility and influencing skills
  • Self-motivated and possess demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve results
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, interpretive and presentation skills; able to synthesize complex information and prepare concise, compelling presentations
  • Demonstrated strong process and project management skills
