We’re looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team in Tooting. Located near Tooting Broadway tube station in shop front offices this is an excellent opportunity for a qualified individual with recent practice experience to join an established, growing firm.

The role

This will be a varied and busy role, and duties will include:

  • Looking after portfolio of limited company, partnership and sole trader clients including providing support and advice via telephone and email
  • Attending and dealing with client meetings on site when required
  • Managing the preparation and filing of annual accounts and corporation tax returns process
  • Preparing and filing personal tax returns
  • Reviewing support staff output and ensuring an error free environment
  • Responsible for managing and provide technical guidance to bookkeeping/vat team
  • Review and submissions of prepared vat returns
  • Review and guiding the payroll manager
  • Providing guidance and supervision of part-qualified staff members
  • Other duties as required to support the team and clients; dealing with enquiries and responding to queries in a timely, courteous and efficient manner and accurately logging information.

Candidate requirements

  • Qualified accountant with relevant experience
  • The ability to take ownership of your work and see things through to completion, including working unsupervised and to constant reporting deadlines
  • Working current knowledge of UK tax laws and accounting standards applicable to small businesses
  • Strong knowledge of computerised accounting systems and IT proficient – ideally in TaxCalc, QuickBooks, Receipt Bank and, of course Microsoft Office
  • Genuine desire to be a trusted advisor to small business clients
  • Good people skills and a confident and friendly personality to help build strong relationships both within the team and with clients
  • Exceptional communication, organisational and management skills
