Purpose of the Role

The ideal candidate will already have had experience in a similar role, where the key purpose is to support the Edinburgh based Finance Manager in the delivery of timely, accurate and insightful financial and management reporting.

The role will be fast paced with changing demands and plenty of opportunity to get involved in one off projects and new challenges. This specification should be considered an outline of the key responsibilities, but the right candidate should be open minded and keen to evolve the role once established.

Responsibilities

Management Reporting
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly Operational reporting by:
    • Assisting with report layout and template design
    • Report generation
    • Perform data accuracy checks and trending analysis
    • Continuously develop reporting knowledge from our accounting system (Microsoft Dynamics 365)
    • Supporting business partners and attending meetings with wider business where required
    • Share learning with others in the team
    • Ensuring deadlines are met.


Financial Reporting
    • Preparation and posting of routine revenue, Cost of Sales and overhead journal entries.
    • Preparation of month end balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Management of overheads by department at a detailed level.


Other
    • Assist with interim and year end external audit requirements.
    • Assist with annual budget process.
    • Preparation of ad hoc financial reports.
    • Foreign currency experience useful due to the growth in international business
    • Confident in both written and verbal communication. Able to build relationships and utilise them both within the wider Finance team and across the business
    • Well organised and able to manage/prioritise own workload and meet deadlines
    • Analytically minded, able to look into the detail but also think about the bigger picture
    • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Keen to continue with your accounting qualifications.


Knowledge and Experience
    • Part qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA 2+ years' experience
    • Advanced Excel skills
    • Excellent written and oral skills
