Experienced Practice Accountant
Looking for something different from your next job?
We’re a Chartered Accountancy practice based in the centre of Thame, Oxfordshire providing a high standard of service to quality clients, locally and in London. Our client base is growing all the time, and we’re looking for experienced practice accountants to join our friendly and supportive team of 20. We have a zero-overtime culture, an excellent staff retention record, offer family-friendly working arrangements, 33 days’ holiday (including Bank Holidays), and pay competitive salaries. We also provide a full CPD programme, and will pay your ACCA membership fees.
We work in a modern open-plan and largely paperless office, and we have a casual dress code. We are generally an office-based practice, though at the moment there’s a mix of office and home working for most of our team. As a new joiner you would initially work in our office whilst we got to know you and introduced you to our systems and to the rest of the team, but we would expect to be able to offer a mix of home and office working once you’d settled in. You'll need to be based near Thame, though, or be willing to relocate to the area.
All the accountants here are generalists, so you’ll be looking after accounts, corporation tax, VAT, and personal tax for a portfolio of clients across a range of industries, also supporting them with tax planning and general business advice. We work with all mainstream cloud accounting systems - we're certified in several, but deliberately don't use one exclusively. We use Iris for practice management, accounts preparation and tax work, and we subscribe to a range of technical resources and materials. Clients are on fixed fees and we don’t keep timesheets.
We’re looking for accountants with a strong technical background (whether qualified, or qualified by experience), but who also have great communication skills. The way we present our work to clients is really important to us, so thinking about how best to explain things to different clients and understanding what’s important to them as individuals is a big part of the job. We work closely as a team, and it’s really important to us that everyone gets along well and enjoys coming to work, so collaborating and sharing knowledge and skills is central to the role too.
If you think you’d be a good fit for Fizz, or have any questions about the role, do get in touch! To apply, just send us a CV along with a covering letter letting us know why a job with us would appeal to you (we won't consider applications without the letter!). We only accept direct applications, not approaches from agencies, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.
