Grants Accountant #394

c. £35,000

Hybrid working, UK

Our partner is a Christian charity, working with local communities to offer children and youth the best opportunity to lead fulfilling lives. They are seeking a programmes accountant to support the fundraising and programmes team in the acquisition and management of donor grants and commercial contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Support in the development and submission of donor grant and commercial contract proposals, ensuring that that they represent value for money and are developed on a full cost recovery basis.
  • Lead on the compliance of donor grants and commercial contracts – this includes monitoring financial processing, financial management & reporting requirements; managing financial and operational risks in the programme portfolios; and providing technical advice and support on compliance and financial management.
  • Working with the legal team to ensure that contract agreements with sub-contractors are reviewed and managed effectively, and undertaking due diligence assessments to ensure that partners and sub-contractors adhere to donor regulations.
  • Carry our financial monitoring visits (these are being conducted remotely at the moment) to overseas programmes.

Requirements

  • Part qualified or qualified experience with demonstrable experience of working with fundraising/programmes teams in the development of grant proposals, and knowledge of grants compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Experience of developing complex budgets, modelling, and undertaking price and cost analysis.
  • Strong communication skills – able to communicate complex regulations, and financial information to a range of staff, consortium partners, and sub-contractors.
  • Strong IT skills; this includes intermediate/advanced Excel skills
  • Strong and culturally sensitive business partner, able to work with colleagues in the UK, as well as partners overseas. The organisation operates in fragile states, so an understanding of the practicalities of working in this context is essential.
  • Passionate about the work of the organisation, and empathy with the Christian ethos of the organisation. For this role, it is a requirement that the candidate is a practising Christian.

The organisation will consider an entirely home-based work option for candidates based in the UK, or offer hybrid working arrangements, with 1-2 days spent in the office.
