Interim Deputy Group Financial Controller (15 month FTC)

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller the role is responsible for providing insight to senior stakeholders (internal and external), overseeing the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements and being a key figure in the driving change within the global finance team

Other areas of responsibility are assisting in the completion of the annual budgeting process, managing KPI's, production of the annual Group statutory financial reporting and liaison with the auditors on key Group matters. There is also a significant amount of varied ad hoc projects which are expected to arise and therefore this role requires someone who is flexible and adaptable.

Key Accountabilities

Statutory reporting

As part of the year end process, preparing the group consolidation and statutory group audited accounts which you will be required to manage. A strong technical understand of IFRS and consolidation experience is a must.

Insight to senior stakeholders

This role supports the Group FC and Group CFO in providing that insight and support to business leaders. This includes the provision, analysis, review and challenge of period management reports and provision of internal and external presentations.

Finance transformation

Co-ordinating the re-design of business processes, standardising and simplifying the data and reporting attributes, ensuring benefits are realised in onboarding new technology and working with non-finance partners to engage with the transformation programme and its deliverables. Further, you will be asked to help identify weaknesses in controls and processes and implement improvements to remedy these.

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge to support senior management and the regional finance teams.
  • Working knowledge of global standards including IFRS.
  • IFRS Consolidation and consolidated statutory accounts preparation knowledge
  • Good knowledge of financial systems and the ability to develop.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise directly with senior management where required with support from the Group Financial Controller
  • Pro-change team player motivated to improve processes and support the development of initiatives driven by the Group finance department
  • Tenacity and attention to detail in order to deliver high quality financial information to support management decisions at Board level
  • The ability to meet routine internal reporting deadlines and be accountable for the preparation of monthly and quarterly management reporting and year end statutory accounts
  • Very strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • + 4 years PQE
  • Experienced in working with auditors
