Senior Project Accountant
Would you like to play a key role providing Financial support to the Oman project team within BAE Systems Air sector? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Project Accountant based at our site in Warton (Hybrid working considered)
As a Senior Project Accountant, you will be part of an Integrated Project Team, working alongside Commercial, Project Management, Procurement and the Oman in Country Operations team.
This role will provide you with a breadth of project accounting experience, including tax, stat accounts, overseas entities and core contract status reporting (CSR) responsibilities. There will also be the opportunity to travel overseas to support the in country team based in Muscat and on Adam Air Base.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Project Accountant will involve:
- Preparation and challenge of long term Business Plans, in year budgets (P&L and Cash Flow), Contract Status Reporting and updates to monthly forecasts including working with the project team to mitigate risks and deliver opportunities and bridging to previous submissions
- Engaging cross functionally with Cost Account Managers (CAMs) / budget holders, to drive financial and operational performance, including improving the accuracy of cash forecasting
- Provision of support to the Oman in country operations team, including preparation of the Oman tax accounts
- Supporting the preparation of the Oman Ltd UK Statutory Accounts and providing inputs to the monthly balance sheet process and commentary, supporting actions where appropriate and identifying and implementing process improvements
- Reconciling financial data and resolving problems/issues where appropriate to ensure integrity of information provided to the wider Oman project team
- Ensuring all financial procedures and controls are applied as required; and supporting non finance functions on their application
- Ensuring all bids are subject to the appropriate financial challenge and in line with internal processes and procedures
- Supporting line leaders with Internal and External Audit activity and providing information in a timely manner
Your skills and qualifications:
ESSENTIAL:
- Must be CIMA, ACA or ACCA Qualified. Part qualified candidates will not be considered nor will AAT Qualified candidates
- Engaging with non-Finance staff and providing decision support to stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to challenge and influence the business - shows Business Acumen
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to reprioritise to meet key deadlines
- Proactive
DESIRABLE:
- Advanced Excel skills preferable but not essential
- Preferably has experience as a Finance Business Partner

You will be a good communicator with the ability to relay complex financial transactions to all levels throughout the business.
