Our partner, with its roots in the anti-apartheid struggle, now works in Southern Africa to help develop leaders of the future who are committed to fighting for social justice, building a vibrant network of 'change-makers' throughout the region.
Their team is small, with five staff in the UK and two in South Africa, all working remotely. With an annual turnover of approximately £1m, donations from voluntary sources and a small investment portfolio, the charity’s finances are relatively straightforward.
The Treasurer will work most closely with the Finance Manager and CEO, and interact occasionally with other professionals such as the auditors and lawyers. They will be a key member of the Board of Trustees, providing guidance to other members and oversight of the charity’s finances and annual budgeting processes.
Board meetings are held three times a year (usually remotely) and in addition, the Treasurer is expected to attend and play a key role in the finance committee which meets a further four times a year, also via video link. Meetings are usually held in the early evening.
Please note that this is a voluntary position and therefore unremunerated.
