CFS Finance supports the Senior Leadership Team of the CFS business under the Deputy CEO Office to manage and grow its superannuation and platform businesses. Colonial First State Financial Services (CFS Finance) partner with all areas of the business to provide specialist advice on financial management and strategy. This advice covers finance, audit, treasury, procurement, and property.

CFS’s purpose is helping our members achieve their individual retirement goals. The Group reporting and Accounting Policy team is responsible for external reporting, internal reporting, accounting and regulatory policy and compliance. This position performs statutory, consolidation and board/shareholder reporting, and also provides advisory on the technical accounting treatment and accounting standards.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing a newly established Group Reporting and Accounting Policy function
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and manage accounting and regulatory compliance
  • Provide technical accounting standards, policies and treatment advice to internal stakeholders whilst ensuring the adherence to accounting policy and practices of the organisation
  • Perform month end processes and consolidation reporting for the organization and produce accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external use in accordance with the relevant accounting policies and standards
  • Work closely with auditors and other financial professionals ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization. This includes the integrity of financial data and reporting and maintain financial controls and relevant framework appropriate to the business. Adhere to the compliance of Group policies / procedures including reconciliation process
  • Preparing or leading preparation of reports including monthly consolidation report, statutory financial report, board reporting, shareholder reporting and other regular / ad hoc reports for internal or external use, etc.

We’re interested in hearing from people who posses

  • Strong knowledge and solid experience in technical accounting advice, familiar with AASB and practices applicable for a similar business/industry
  • 10+ years experience with at least 5 years in FS; superannuation, funds management or general wealth management experience will be highly regarded
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, particularly in application of accounting standards and principles
  • Experience managing financial controls within a financial services environment
  • Curiosity and preparedness to challenge things that do not seem to be right or are unusual

CBA has entered into an agreement with KKR to sell a 55% interest in its CFS superannuation and investments business for total cash considerations of $1.7billion (implying a total valuation of $3.3billion). CBA will retain a 45% shareholding in CFS.

As this is a role to work in the CFS business, the successful candidate will initially be employed by the CBA Group but on sale completion, their employment will transfer to a new entity that will employ the CFS business employees from completion.
