Senior Financial Accountant Accounting Advisory and Analysis

Purpose of the Role

In this role you will be a member of the Accounting Advisory and Analysis team that sits within the broader Group Statutory Reporting and Enterprise Services team. As a team member you will be responsible for providing technical accounting advice to support business in its many initiatives.

This includes, but is not limited to, advising on M&A transactions, capitalisation of projects, management of external relationship and assisting in the preparation of various AMP financial reporting obligations throughout the year.

You will also be setting accounting policy and providing accounting advice. In addition, this role plays an important part in AMP's half yearly and annual ASX reporting for the AMP Limited consolidated group.

Your main responsible will include but not limited to:
  • Serving as the subject matter expert to address and implement accounting and reporting requirements under AASB and IFRS associated with new accounting pronouncements
  • Performing technical analysis and drafting accounting advice memo on potential M&A transactions and other matters on an ad-hoc basis as they arise
  • Drafting and/or revising accounting policies in response to changes in external requirements or AMP's business
  • Assisting in the preparation of sections of the AMP Limited financial report with a focus on highly technical elements
  • Preparing reports and explanatory material for Audit Committees and executives on technical aspects of financial reports, transactions and other matters as required
  • Assisting with the Management Representation to Directors (MRD) process
  • Assisting in the preparation of high-quality commentary, analysis and explanatory notes on AMP Limited's consolidated statutory reporting including preparation for the Audit Committee and Boards.

With your CA/CPA qualification what we look for in you:
  • Ideally at least 4 years' experience in a statutory reporting, audit or accounting advice role within financial services
  • Aptitude for understanding complex transaction documents
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, including exceptional quality and attention to detail
  • Solid working knowledge of AASB and IFRS accounting standards
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate both to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Outstanding analytical mindset and the ability to problem solve complex matters
  • Solid project management skills as well as ability to work in a changing environment.
