Who we are looking for

Unit Registry is a specialist team that provides our large client base with daily prices as well as cash forecasting, issuing daily, monthly and annual statements to our client’s investors. The team is responsible for processing daily transactions received from investors as well as distributions, completing Anti-Money Laundering & Know Your Client checks on investors to ensure full adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.

The role is responsible for the effective management of staff and the execution of departmental strategy and oversight of our outsourced Unit Registry vendor. You will have responsibility for the Unit Registry team and will oversee the activities and effectiveness of the group’s plan of execution. There is a level of accountability in this role for results in the areas of employee, strategy and cost.

As an Operations Manager within Unit Registry, you need to be strategic in approach and have the ability to positively influence others to achieve success. You will need to continuously look to achieve ongoing efficiency targets and work on both internal and external departmental projects. You will be an escalation point for managers, requiring strong communication and problem solving skills as well as the ability to delegate and identify development opportunities.

What you will be responsible for

As a Operations Manager you will

  • Ensure that all operational registry and reporting deliverables to both internal and external clients are met in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage client relationship from both a strategic and day to day tactical perspective ensuring coherence between client requirements and SSAL service capabilities
  • Ensure all staffs are up to date with operational procedures and ensuring AML/KYC policies are understood and followed
  • Facilitate staff training & development, including through effective performance reviews
  • Drive operational efficiencies and strive for best in class services
  • Understand the core offering and drive implementation of any new regulatory requirement or product
  • Management of third party vendor as required.

  • Knowledge of the unit registry operational flows.
  • Knowledge of fund accounting operational concepts.
  • An aptitude for information technology including Excel and HiTrust
  • Proven capability to manage all aspects of a team and/or teams – leadership, coaching, recruitment, team building, problem resolution, motivation, training/development of staff in technical and leadership skills.
  • Strong liaison skills across all levels of the organisation.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

Extensive experience in all aspects of client servicing.

  • Formal qualifications in accounting/business/commerce/finance – SIA or degree.
  • A solid understanding of the finance industry and financial markets.
  • An excellent understanding of core registry processes – transaction processing, distributions and non-financial changes.
  • Strong understanding of AML/FATCA/CRS rules and RG97 regulations
  • Previous Unit Registry, finance and/or banking background.
  • Understanding and/or experience with listed products is highly regarded
