Your field of responsibility

Key responsibilities of the VP role in the CSH USA Controls & Oversight Team in New York or Raleigh are:

  • Positively impact the development and implementation of the risk and control framework across the team, with appropriate alignment to bank-wide standards.
  • Review and challenge by conducting independent Quality Assurance reviews to assess efficiency of controls, documentation completeness and adherence to Control frameworks.
  • Serve as an SME in the risk and controls space across the organization to help develop standard methodology and roll out guidance for core control activities and relevant risk topics. Tactically produce guidelines and evaluate processes, including partnering with other control programs to assure consistency, where applicable.
  • Lead ad-hoc assurance / deep-dive reviews with a risk and control based approach, covering relevant topics and in response to high-risk areas or important themes.
  • Provide risk expertise and structured thinking to ad-hoc projects and tasks such as evaluating data and development of Senior Management reporting.
  • Support governance activities related to the CSH USA Controls & Oversight function and facilitate related reporting to Senior Management
  • Drive improved risk awareness and culture through targeted training and communications, using existing materials and enhancing through limited investment as needed. Supplement with innovative ways to help strengthen risk and control understanding throughout the teams.
  • Develop and cultivate positive relationships with controls counterparts across the Bank to ensure consistency, fit for purpose and to drive positive cultural change.
  • Manage a team of risk and control professionals in a decentralized environment.

Your future colleagues

The CSH USA Controls & Oversight Team provides line risk, control oversight and management information to Senior Management. The Controls & Oversight Team serves as a Second Line of Defense and is a key function responsible for working in partnership with all areas across the IHC and functions to identify key control points and to ensure that the overall control environment is robust, fit for purpose and aligned with the CSH USA Controls Framework. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring operational/control risks are identified and mitigated effectively in areas of people, processes and systems. Your skills and experience

We are looking for an applicant who possess A Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting/Auditing subject area. Further relevant qualifications such as CPA, CIA or MBA desirable.

 List of skills encouraged:

  • Equivalent work experience of 7 yrs. Operational Risk and Control experience or a proven track record in a similar risk related subject area (e.g. Audit, Consulting, 2nd Line of Defense), supplemented with wider financial business and product knowledge from associated roles.
  • A delivery focused, proven ability to successfully manage projects / reviews / tasks to completion at a high standard. Understand and apply policy and create practical and simple operational risk & control guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills - candidate will be expected to articulate complex operational risk and control issues in a structured, targeted and impactful manner to business partners and management.
  • Ability to manage and develop staff in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative and inquisitive approach - critical approach with ability to evaluate problems at a high level and then deep-dive into specific aspects, with the ability and willingness to question the status quo and identifying issues and improvements with a desire to develop professional relationships at all levels within the firm.
  • Equivalent experience across a range of Shared Services functions (such as Product Control, Operations or Financial Accounting) would also be desirable!
  • Intermediate PowerPoint & Excel required as baseline skills (advanced skills preferred)
