We have a vacancy for a Tax Senior Manager to work in our Kent office tax team. This is a full time permanent role with flexible working and progression opportunities.

You will work closely with local partners and directors (tax, corporate finance, audit and accounting) delivering a range of tax work. You will manage a corporate tax compliance portfolio of larger and more complex clients, ranging from family businesses, entrepreneurial and innovative owner-managed companies to quoted groups.

You will be involved in a variety of tax advisory, structuring, project based and transaction work, including due diligence work. You will also be involved in business development initiatives and working with the team to generate new work.

You should be qualified ACA/CTA (or equivalent) with extensive practical corporate tax experience. You will be expected to use your own initiative and work as part of a team, liaising with other tax specialists, audit and corporate finance colleagues.

The role requirements 

  • ACA/CTA or equivalent qualification essential.
  • Significant corporate tax and accounting experience on a range of advisory and compliance projects.
  • A passion for client service.
  • A track record of developing new work.

Your technical skills 

Ability to deliver general corporate tax advisory services across a broad range of areas, these may include the following: 

  • Group reorganisations.
  • Advice on structuring acquisitions and disposals.
  • Due diligence work and SPA reviews.
  • Share related matters (eg. EMI, EIS, BADR, employment related securities).
  • Corporate debt.
  • International tax advice (structuring, financing and transfer pricing).
  • R&D and Patent Box.
  • Capital allowances.

Your direct client responsibilities: 

  • Developing and leading the tax relationship of the clients within your portfolio, which will include family businesses, owner managed businesses, larger or more complex UK and international groups.
  • Leading and overseeing the corporate tax compliance cycle on your client portfolio.
  • Leading work and being actively involved in the provision of advisory projects to clients (both proactively and reactively), including clients of other departments and offices. Reporting directly to tax partners and directors.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to take additional services to clients and contacts, including corporate taxes, VAT, personal taxes, employment taxes and corporate finance support.
  • Leading and supporting business development initiatives.
  • Taking primary responsibility for financial performance on your client and project work.
  • Billing responsibility for all tax work on client portfolio. Balancing the requirement to maximise recovery and manage client expectations.
  • Considering and managing risk in all interactions with clients.
  • Showing a sense of urgency and understanding of how the delivery of work (including speed, attention to detail, and quality) impacts the Firm’s ability to serve our clients.

  • Ability to execute work efficiently, delivering excellent service and bringing the full breadth of Crowe UK’s capability to support our clients.
  • Act as a role model for members of the team, providing on-the-job coaching to more junior members of the team.
  • Delivering work to the highest quality.
  • Very strong tax technical compliance and advisory knowledge. Extensive experience of share related matters would be considered favourably.
  • Ability to correctly and quickly interpret client information including tax computations, financial statements and other source documents to be able to identify the tax risks and opportunities.
  • Demonstration of the ability to effectively understand and manage risk matters.
  • Ability to be adaptable and embrace change in a positive manner.
  • Adherence to the firm’s risk management policies at all times.
