Our National Tax Department (NTD) serves high-profile, national and multinational clients, providing a range of domestic and international transactional tax planning services and tax-related advisory services. The opportunity

Our tax controversy services provide one overarching goal: global tax risk and controversy management that is holistic, integrated and end-to-end. Our enterprise-wide approach to help you prevent, manage and resolve tax controversy is built upon four pillars that provide the foundation for effective global tax risk and controversy management.

Your key responsibilities

Our global tax controversy network is uniquely positioned to help businesses prevent, manage and resolve their tax controversy issues. Our services include pre-filing controversy management and tracking, dispute resolution, return filing, preparing relevant back-up documentation and working with businesses to implement tax controversy management best practices. Using our global network and first-class technology, we help businesses address risk, improve tax performance, better manage controversy and resolve tax disputes ' wherever they do business.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Researching tax issues to develop effective tax planning strategies
  • Translating complex data from a range of sources into client-ready insights and deliverables
  • Building effective long-term relationships with our clients, understanding their unique needs to provide a tailored service
  • Communicating complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients
  • Maintaining your reputation in your field by constantly updating and sharing your technical and finest practice knowledge
  • Identifying and reacting to risks and opportunities to improve our services and processes

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field, supported by significant tax or financial planning experience
  • A CPA certification or membership in The Bar
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization
  • A thorough understanding of estate and wealth planning, experience with federal income taxation
  • Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and the confidence to challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • A thorough understanding of automated tax processing systems and laws within your area of technical professionalism
  • Excellent managerial, leadership, organizational, and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated business development skills and experience

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members

Salary Range:

  • The salary range for this position in Denver, CO is: $108,300 - $210,200
  • The salary range for this position in Las Vegas NV is: $108,300 - $210,200
  • The salary range for this position in Hartford, CT is: $113,900 - $221,200
  • The salary range for this position in Stamford, CT is:  $131,000 - $254,500
