Today’s healthcare environment is undergoing rapid change and transformation. The market is being impacted by changing regulations, new payment structures, increasing reliance on technology, and a move towards population health. As a Senior within our Health consulting practice, you’ll work with clients across the healthcare industry, from hospitals and integrated delivery networks to commercial and governmental insurers. You’ll use your industry knowledge and relationship skillsets to assist our clients in delivering services efficiently and effectively.
The opportunity
As part of EY’s Health consulting practice, you will work with these clients across the country in solving complex problems in today’s rapidly changing healthcare environment. We currently are seeking a highly motivated Senior, with a focus on payer operations, to manage client engagement teams, work with a wide variety of clients to deliver professional services, and support business development activities on strategic and global priority accounts.
Your key responsibilities
You’ll spend most of your time teaming with our payer team working with a broad spectrum of not-for-profit and for-profit healthcare clients, including healthcare systems, HMOs and health insurance companies. We help our clients across multiple functional areas with business performance management, analytics enablement, growth/strategy, process improvement, cost reduction, technology implementation and enterprise transformation.
As a Senior in our Health consulting group focused on Payer Operations, you’ll work with clients across the following areas:
- Business Performance Management
- Analytics Enablement
- Process Improvement
- Cost reduction
- Technology Implementation
- Enterprise Transformation
Skills and attributes for success
- Establish relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels. Consistently deliver quality client services
- Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes
- Stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client's business
- Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge
- Demonstrate ability to assimilate to new knowledge
- Possess good business acumen
- Remain current on new developments in consulting services capabilities and industry knowledge
To qualify for the role you must have
- A bachelor's degree and approximately 3+ years of related work experience; or a master's degree and approximately 2 years of related work experience
- Approximately 2 years of health plan operations experience as a senior (or above) in a consulting firm or in a senior analyst role at a health plan
- Experience in one of the following areas is required: health plan operations (including claims or call center management), network management/provider relations, medical management, sales management or finance
- Develop work plans for specific components of an engagement and coordinate activities between work streams
- Manage large, confidential and complex data sets and able to manage data within Access database
- Conduct detailed analyses to draw conclusions, and develop pertinent and insightful recommendations
- Demonstrated Project Management experience, including creating work plans, budgets, and goal setting/benchmarks
- A willingness to travel to meet client needs; travel is estimated at 80%
Ideally you’ll also have
- A degree with an emphasis in Finance, Accounting, and/or Business; CPA, MBA, MHA and/or MPH
- Knowledge and experience with managed care payer systems such as FACETS

- The salary range for this position in (Stamford/CT) is $(92,200) to $(171,300)
- The salary range for this position in (Hartford/CT) is $(83,800) to $(155,700)
