Company Background

As one of Australia’s oldest Arts institutions, our client is universally loved both locally and on the world stage. Despite the ravages of CoVid, their strong supporter base, philanthropic activity and continued Government support has meant they have not only survived 2021, but thrived to set themselves up beautifully for 2022.

The Role

As Head of Finance, you report through to the CFO and will have a host of other internal and external key stakeholders to manage. More specifically the role will:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and expert advice to the CFO and Management team
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership team to help develop the business plans, and solutions to meet the businesses objectives
  • Manage a settled and productive finance team of 10 who manage the Finance and Operations, and the Management Reporting through to this role for review
  • Take ownership of the Management reporting through to the CFO, including monthly and quarterly reporting and accompanying analysis
  • Preparation of the Annual Financial Statements
  • Oversee the statutory reporting through the relevant State government body departments, including Treasury
  • Act as the main contact point for the Auditors
  • Have ownership of all compliance work such as taxes, and ensuring Government requirements are met for continued funding

Your Background

To be considered for this role, first and foremost, you will need a love for the Arts! It’s a creative industry and you will need to be comfortable to be surrounded by a whole range of big, passionate and quirky personalities. On the skills side you will need:

  • Have ideally worked in a externally funded environment (i.e. not through direct sales)
  • Have managed a medium sized team, ideally as a Controller, or Senior Head of Finance
  • Strong leadership skills and a natural curiosity to improve processes and execution
  • CA / CPA (or similar qualified)

And of course, a real get-up-and-go personality that loves to drive change and get things done.
