EY is looking for a Senior Consultant to join the Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR) team in our Canary Wharf offices. This is a rapidly growing area supported by an increased focus across the industry. Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR) is a fast-growing focus area for the Quantitative Advisory Services practice and a strategic value proposition and part of the broader Corporate and Investment Banking Transformation Solutions. We are working with industry leaders and some of the world’s largest and most complex financial institutions to help them navigate through CCR risks, models, processes and controls, data and technology challenges, and regulatory intricacies in an ever-changing world to create long-term value for our clients.

As a Senior Consultant you will technically contribute to external client engagements and internal projects. An important part of your role will be helping strengthen our practice by delivering exceptional performance on client engagements as well as creating innovative approaches to help continually build our proposition in line with changing client needs. You will also be actively establishing, maintaining and strengthening internal and external client relationships.

Similarly, you will anticipate and identify risks and raise any issues with senior members of the team. In line with our commitment to quality, you will determine that work is of a high quality and is reviewed by the next-level reviewer. As an influential member of the team, you'll help to create a positive learning culture and will coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop.

We are looking for personnel with analytical bend of mind with quantitative background, who can quickly build on their foundational learning and experience to address new challenges. You would also have strong leadership and communication skills, as well as ability to manage varied stakeholder groups.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Participate in Risk and Assurance engagements
  • Work effectively as a team member sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress
  • Assist in preparing process/requirements documentations, reports and other artefacts that will be delivered to clients and other parties
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel
  • Build strong internal relationships within Consulting and across other services

People responsibilities

  • Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting and retaining FS Risk professionals
  • Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills

Base Qualifications

  • Demonstrable, relevant experience in Financial Services, either as part of an institution; in an advisory or business consulting capacity to such organisations or in the regulation of such institutions
  • Strong academic background including at least a 2.1 Bachelor's degree (Computational Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or Physics preferred) or equivalent
  • Professional Qualification e.g. CQF / CFA / FRM / PRM
  • Experience in Counterparty Credit Risk as part of first or second line of defence with Top Tier FS firms

General Skills (PM, Communication, etc.)

  • Keen desire to continue developing and integrating quantitative skills within both a challenging and rewarding commercial environment
  • Confident and credible communicator who displays both technical knowledge and commercial understanding
  • Project management and report writing experience
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Experience in stakeholder and client management
  • Ability to drive business development and contribute to the growth of the EY market solutions

CCR-specific technical skills / experience may include:

  • Experience or knowledge of counterparty credit risk (e.g. PFE/EAD calculations, settlement risk, intraday risk, wrong-way risk, limit monitoring, stress testing etc.).
  • Knowledge of clearing and collateral optimisation
  • Regulatory knowledge relating to CCR, e.g., CRR, TRIM or SR 11-10
  • Product knowledge e.g. interest rate swaps, equity derivatives, FX etc
  • Good understanding of Derivative Pricing, Market Risk and CVA methodologies used for the trading, risk management and ideally calculation of regulatory capital requirements
  • Knowledge of Front Office (FO) pricing models, Market and CCR models, liquidity models, treasury function models, operational risk models or Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) models
  • Understanding of typical CCR infrastructure, systems and data
