The Role and the Team

We are looking for an experienced international payroll team member to add to the Proofpoint Worldwide Payroll team. The International Payroll Manager will report to the Senior Manager of Global Payroll and will support all duties associated with the accurate and timely processing of Proofpoint's international payrolls as well as assist in all payroll related financial close tasks.

This role will work closely with Human Resources on international payroll-related matters and will interact closely with the international accounting team to complete all close related tasks. This individual will be driven, highly motived, pro-active, detail oriented, self-directed and own the international payroll function. This position offers the ability to learn, lead, guide, develop and grow their career working for a dynamic $1B+ company.

Currently home working due to Covid. Return to office will be a hybrid model, offering a flexible balance of office and home working.

Your day-to-day
  • Will be one of the Leads to implement the WW global payroll platform solution
  • Work closely with the international payroll vendor to process payroll for Proofpoint employees in EMEA and APAC regions
  • Responsible for reviewing new hire entries, master file changes from Workday , and reconciling payroll files from the international vendor as well as auditing the payroll system data to the corporate system of record, Workday.
  • Audit time sheets and monthly payrolls to ensure accurate and timely pay
  • Assist international employees with pay related issues
  • Responsible for processing off cycle manual payroll payments
  • Assist with monthly fluxes and provided detailed support with/to the International accounting team
  • Assist with research projects and preparation of management reports as needed
  • Ensure operational and SOX controls are properly performed within the payroll process
  • Coordinate with external auditors to assist with quarterly and annual audits as needed
  • Answer international accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Audit payroll tax payments made by payroll vendor to ensure deposits are received timely
  • Own the custom reporting feature available on the new international payroll vendor's software
  • Responsible for providing approved back up documentation for payment processing in the designated secured file system for Finance review
  • Responsible for ensuring all employee year end documents are disbursed timely and saved in the secured file system


What you bring to the team
  • Extensive international payroll processing experience
  • Experience of processing payroll in EMEA & APAC regions
  • Possess a working knowledge of international payroll-related requirements and regulations
  • Maintain confidentiality in all assignments and in all information obtained
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft business suite, specifically excel
  • Knowledge of international payroll vendor(s) software/processes
  • Ability and flexibility to work extended hours during critical periods such as payroll submission, quarter and year-end remittance deadlines
  • Ability to work hours in different time zones to resolve critical international issues, if necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization both internally and externally


Beneficial Experience
  • Workday experience is preferred
  • Active member of the GPMI ( Global Payroll Management Institute) a plus
  • Previous team management experience a plus
