We are looking for a proactive financial business partner, responsible for providing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and reporting for effective business decision support.

This role has to be responsive to change, proactively anticipating data, insights and analytics to help the business to make the right data driven decisions.

The position reports directly to the Commercial Finance Director, LexisNexis Nexis Solutions, will work closely with the Nexis Solutions Management team and will receive support from the GRPA (Global Reporting, Planning and Analysis) team.

We are seeking a part-qualified or newly-qualified accountant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Management reporting: Provide timely, sound and actionable financial analysis of current results for business units (UK and AsiaPac) and deliver insights on impacts to future performance. Review monthly sales metrics and revenue reports with insight into trends and variances. Identify areas of cost opportunities and/or concern, focusing on trends and variance analyses.
  • Strategic and tactical planning, budgeting and forecasting: Forecast revenue and costs for business units (UK and AsiaPac) on a quarterly basis. Develop revenue, direct cost and labour driver assumptions. Provide financial insight at review meetings to drive actions and foster a no surprises culture. Provide the financials for the strategic plan. Provide constructive challenge to Sales forecasts.
  • Segment Metrics: Support the Senior Business Analyst in our reporting and analysis of segment revenue performance including the evolution to our new automated dashboard reporting application.
  • Business Partnering: Support the General Manager of Segments in understanding cost trends and variance analysis.
  • Operational Effectiveness: Ownership of critical processes across the group (driving best practices, continuous improvement, standardization, training, etc. Support all areas of the business to optimize costs. Performs and leads special projects and critical analysis as assigned.
  • Investment: Identify areas of financial performance that merit analytical investigation and help the business drive investment decisions, including the use of specific milestones. Provide support, review and challenge on investments in technology, product, geographic expansion via development of business cases and then reviewing financial performance and outcomes.
  • Internal control: Provide strong stewardship and governance of the business unit.
  • Relations network (internal / external): Develop excellent relations and maintain regular contact with Business Unit CFO, Commercial Finance Director, Business Partners and GRPA.
  • Understands complex and underlying data relationships. Pulls ideas, issues, and observations into a clear and concise presentation. Organizes information to make it clearer and integrates small pieces of data into a structure that pulls them together. Makes appropriate recommendations to multiple levels of management.
  • In depth understanding of financial/accounting systems and software. Understands the roles and relationship of organizational units and processes. May design necessary systems & process improvements.


Qualifications
  • Degree holder
  • 3+ years of substantial diverse financial analysis and accounting
  • Accountancy qualification preferred, i.e. CIMA, ACCA, ACA - or part qualified, close to completion.
  • Individuals without a degree should demonstrate equivalent abilities and skill sets.
  • System knowledge: Excel (advanced level), PowerPoint (intermediate) Hyperion and PeopleSoft.
  • Advanced personal computer skills including spreadsheets, query and database management programs
  • Self-motivated and exhibits time management skills
