Senior Business Analyst

Can be based in Edinburgh, Milton Keynes or Widnes

We are open to this role being based in any of the above locations as remote working is involved, however, when we return to our normal ways of working occasional travel to Edinburgh will be required.

In a nutshell

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will manage the scope, requirements analysis and business context of solution design for a project or workstream. You'll lead business engagement and manage long lived requirements for specific areas of the business.

The role includes typical business analysis activity including planning, eliciting, analysing, defining, communicating and validating requirements for changes to structures, business operations and processes, product and service offerings, policies and information systems.

What success looks like?

You will develop strong, lasting relationships with key business stakeholders and will support the business to develop their ideas, to help us put our customers first. You'll obtain good knowledge across several individual business/product areas, understanding interdependencies and the impact of changes to provide informed consultancy advice, independent review and quality assurance. You'll lead the engagement of a variety of stakeholders across priority areas, delivering high quality work and maintaining relationships post project close.

What you'll be doing
  • Driving business engagement to understand, challenge and document underlying business needs, translating these into project scope, objectives and requirements.
  • Leading, designing and facilitating business need workshops to analyse, define and prioritise requirements, challenging thinking and agreeing outcomes to ensure robust requirements development and approval.
  • Responsibility for the definition and management of the documentation of business requirements, including requirements catalogues and traceability matrices. Preparing business cases which underpin solution options.
  • Overseeing end-to-end requirements traceability against quality business requirements using appropriate tools and templates.
  • Understanding and articulating the effect of proposed solutions, creating accurate and detailed as-is and to-be business models, incorporating process and benefit analysis, people and customer impact assessment.
  • Developing cross business and service user acceptance plans and communications to support implementation.
  • Responsibility for resolution of business analysis issues, identifying and driving mitigating actions against design risks as directed by the Lead Business Analyst.
  • Taking responsibility for self-development, actively seeking and providing feedback and responding accordingly.


What you need to know and show
  • Senior Business Analyst experience in the Financial Services industry, ideally with consumer credit products.
  • Exceptional communication skills, you'll have the ability to communicate effectively with anyone in any environment, translating complex/technical issues to meet the audience's competency level. This also includes written communication, to ensure effective business & project reports.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Well-organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • You'll be a team player, able to work closely with others to deliver results.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused approach.
