Summary:

The Fund Administration group for HFS is responsible for providing hedge fund clients with monthly NAVs, annual draft financial statements, and annual tax and audit support. This role is responsible for the oversight and compliance with IRS tax rules and intergovernmental agreements. This highly visible, high-impact role reaches across all areas of the business including Investor Services, Tax, Operations, Accounting, Valuation and Information Technology. The successful candidate will be a seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and/or business knowledge and functional expertise of hedge fund tax compliance. The candidate will be an ambitious self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to function as an effective and strategic member in a dynamic, fast-paced and demanding environment. This individual will have a strong technical tax compliance background, experience reviewing audited financial statements, and a proven track record of working well with and leading others.

Accountable for:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of assisting accounting personal with preparation of select month-end tax accruals and related year-end tax reporting.
  • Developing and maintaining procedures surrounding internal tax reporting for clients.
  • Ability to identify and remedy inconsistencies in data across Hedge Fund Services shared teams.
  • Managing relationships and working with outside tax consultants and vendors to ensure proper compliance and review outsourced client deliverables.
  • Review draft tax disclosures in the audited financial statements and related supporting documentation.
  • Liaise with clients and auditors as necessary regarding tax compliance issues.
  • Understand applicable withholding requirements and related client policies (e.g. FATCA, dividends/interest, reclaims).
  • Staying current on regulations and changes in US and foreign tax laws and intergovernmental agreements to ensure compliance with accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Researching tax issues as well as analyze tax law and documenting findings.
  • Directing communication surrounding client interaction with respect to tax reporting capabilities.
  • Working with internal technology resources to problem solve and scope new functionality to increase scalability for a growing portfolio of clients.
  • Coordinating with Relationship Management to determine and message client fees that are invoiced by the Billing Department.

Qualifications

Required

10+ years of relevant experience working within a public accounting firm

  • 5+ Years working with Tax documentation
  • Strong PC skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with client interaction on daily basis
  • Adaptive, flexible style; able to work in a challenging, dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated history of engaging senior-level stakeholders

Desired

  • Financial services product knowledge/domain expertise
  • Prior Management experience preferred
  • Prior experience with tax form validation / reporting

Education

  • Accounting degree
  • CPA preferred
  • Masters in Tax preferred
