About the role
What you need to know:
Reporting to: Financial Reporting Manager
• Assisting the Financial Reporting Manager with the provision of key accounting controls and information for AIG Life.
• We are currently undergoing finance transformation around the financial operations and financial reporting. The jobholder should therefore enjoy working in a changing and sometimes challenging environment.
• Understand the requirements of the team and assist with month end reporting.
• Assist the team in managing high volumes of queries and requests from the business.
• The jobholder should have an open and enquiring mind and be prepared to challenge existing processes, and contribute to and develop new processes, focusing on maintaining efficient but tight controls and adding value in the work we do.
• Good communication skills would be required in order to build and maintain good relationships with people who they will interact with across AIG as well as external stakeholders
• The jobholder will be required to work with flexibility in order to meet the demands required for a small team. The company will in turn offer flexibility in working where possible
Key Responsibilities:
• Contributions to month end and quarter end processes to support the financial reporting process
• Preparation and posting of journals to reflect movements in the accounts
• Analysing and interpreting financial reports and large volumes of data
• Assist in project reporting and decisions
• Helping to develop revised processes and controls and rolling these out across the team with training.
• Ownership of cashflow and investment processes
• Handling of internal and external queries
• Assisting with annual internal and external audit when required.
What we're looking for:
• Newly Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or strong Part Qualified Accountant
• Prior work experience in a multinational organisation and matrix reporting structure preferred
• Experience with SAP preferred but not essential
• Financial Acumen
o Strong reporting background and expertise.
o Experienced in management accounting
o Ability to identify and investigate unusual financial items and follow up finance related queries
• Technical Skills:
o Understanding of accounting processes
o Analytical and detailed focus
• General:
o Strong customer service orientation.
o Pro-active individual who shows initiative & takes responsibility for their own decisions.
o Takes full ownership and responsibility for delivery of assigned tasks in agreed timescales.
o Highly self-motivated.
o Keen attention to detail.
o Able to work both independently and as part of a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
o Good communication across all teams within the business
