Department Description

The Fixed Income Division (FID) is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. The Commodities Division is a market leader across a broad range of commodities markets, with expertise in areas including client risk management, financing solutions and investor products Sales & Trading

Global Markets Group is the offshoring arm of Morgan Stanley’s Sales & Trading businesses in India. It covers functions across FID and Institutional Equities Division (IED) ranging from those associated with sales, trading, analytics, strats to risk management.

Role Description:

The FID Data strat team is responsible for the data strategy across the FID business for all data types focusing on consistent data access, search functionality, data quality and controls, and meta data. We are currently looking for an experienced candidate, at a senior leadership position, who can contribute significantly to building a holistic data strategy across the whole business.

The successful applicant will need a good understanding of data engineering, data analytics, Python programming. Experience of data related work in a large financial institution and a good understanding of financial data would be useful.

Essential Skills:

• Experience leading medium to large scale data and analytics projects
• Experience communicating with senior stakeholders
• Experience using Python in a production environment
• Demonstrable affinity with financial products
• Ability to independently initiate and implement new products consistent with the teams strategic goals
• At least 5 years of experience in a relevant role

Preferred Skills:

• Understanding of Fixed Income products
• Experience with KDB/Q

There is a possibility for the candidate to have local management responsibility for strats in Mumbai both in the data team and possibly other teams. So experience managing medium size teams would be a plus.

The work will involve constant collaboration with technology, strats, and the FID business units so good communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to a wide audience are essential. The candidate will also be required to work both independently and as the member of a larger team.
