This Project Accountant role has lead financial responsibility for the timely and accurate preparation of the year end provisions. As well as taking a strategic and partnering approach to bring together stakeholders from various departments, both internal and external to improve our claims business processing, financial control and reporting.

Client Details

Our client is a Public Sector and Government Organisation based in London.


The responsibilities of the Project Accountant include but re not limited to:

Knowledge and Experience:

  • In depth specialist knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
  • Advise finance and non-finance managers on complex financial matters providing detailed advice and guidance.

Communication Skills:

  • A key element of the role is the ability to analyse and communicate complex, technical information to a wide range of audiences, both in writing and verbally. It is therefore essential that the post holder has very high quality communication skills.
  • Work as a Financial Business Partner to the senior managers developing strong working relationships that enables them influence and constructively challenge as appropriate.

Analytical Skills:

  • Produce complex and challenging information and analysis for the Annual Accounts and other returns to meet statutory requirements. Support and address queries from internal and external auditors as and when required.
  • Lead in delivering effective systems and business processes for financial management. This will involve producing, managing and improving complex spreadsheets. The post holder will be expected to have strong analytic skills to be able to identify and push forward areas for improvement.


This Project Accountant role would compliment a candidate with the following experience:

  • CCAB accountancy qualification or equivalent e.g. ACCA or CIMA (Master's level)
  • Experience of dealing with internal and external auditors

  • Substantial previous experience and expertise in a financial environment
  • Experience in producing clear and concise financial information reports
  • Experience of providing highly complex financial advice and guidance to senior managers and external stakeholders
  • Experience in establishing and improving financial controls
  • Experience of analysing complex financial data and investigating and resolving errors
  • Detailed experience and understanding of computerised financial information systems plus experience of building excel spreadsheets
