Description

  • Completion of month end processes which includes, but is not limited to:
    - Posting income and cash to the correct accounts and liaising with the Management Accountant on whether all postings are up to date ahead of the monthly management accounts preparation cycle
    - Maintaining accruals and prepayments
    - Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Review and control the museum balance sheet to ensure the museum's assets, including those related to the capital project are safeguarded;
  • Review the sales and purchase ledger, ensuring efficient debtor collection and creditor payment;
  • Manage the banking facilities and ensure the cash flow forecast is accurate and up to date;
  • Depreciation postings and maintenance of the fixed asset register
  • Ensuring cash balance schedules are maintained in an accurate and timely manner
  • Monthly management of cashflow reporting and analysis of variances against forecast
  • Ownership of Notice Account and movement of funds in line with cash forecasting
  • Prepare the annual statutory accounts of the two legal entities of the museum, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Taking ownership of the audit deliverables list, delegating to other members of the finance team where appropriate to do so and being the first point of contact for auditors' questions.

Profile

  • Part qualified (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) with a background in the charity sector
  • Strong experience in financial controls and statutory financial reporting - essential
  • Intermediate knowledge of excel
  • Experience of managing a small team
  • Auditing experience
  • Experience in improving finance processes using systems - desirable
  • Experience of integrating finance systems with other systems
  • Tax knowledge, in particular charity VAT
  • Knowledge of charity accounting rules
  • Experience in communicating finance policies and ensuring adherence to these policies
  • Cash flow management
  • Experience in Access Dimensions, Focal Point and Sage payroll - desirable
