Are you a part-qualified accountant, or equivalent, with a strong background in a management accounting role?  If so we would welcome your application for the Finance Business Partner.

The Finance Department aims to provide, in a cost efficient, professional and timely manner, services that allow the University to meet its statutory financial obligations and internal financial management objectives.

Supporting the Management Accounting Manager, you will provide direct financial support to those specific Professional Service Directorates, where there is not a sufficient concentration of finance expertise, acting as a trusted Business Partner.  You will also work to implement and deliver a training programme to staff with financial responsibilities in all Divisions and Professional Service Directorates, to ensure provision of high quality financial services across the entire devolved operations of the University

As Finance Business Partner you will:

  • Oversee the budgetary performance of Professional Services Departments (PSDs) at the University
  • Provide detailed and evaluative financial performance commentary on behalf of serviced PSDs, commenting on past performance and providing end of year forecasts
  • Work closely with the Management Accounts team to provide commentary on variances, and input to the update of the in-year forecast
  • Work closely with finance staff and operational managers in serviced PSDs, where required, to produce business plans and assessments

To be successful in the role you will have/be:

  • Professionally part-qualified (CCAB or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in a management accounting role in a complex organisation
  • Highly organised, with the ability to balance conflicting priorities and meet challenging deadlines
  • Effective decision-making and analytical skills
