Are you a qualified accountant, with a strong background working at a strategic and operational level in management accounting?  Do you have experience of all aspects of financial management and financial reporting, including strategy planning and formulation? If so we would welcome your application for the Strategic Projects Accountant.   

The Finance Department aims to provide, in a cost efficient, professional and timely manner, services that allow the University to meet its statutory financial obligations and internal financial management objectives. 

Supporting the Financial Strategy & Budgeting Manager, you will provide vital financial analysis and support to the operational reviews and the development of business cases for new investment and ensure that future operational changes are correctly reflected in financial forecasts.   In this role you will work closely with finance staff and operational managers across all divisions and Directorates to support the implementation of their strategic plans.

As Strategic Projects Accountant you will:

  • Produce costing information and financial plans to support business cases and provide meaningful value for money information to support management decision making
  • Provide financial support to University initiatives, providing costing information for new activities, to include any capital requirements, and prepare investment analysis to support decision-making
  • Develop and maintain templates to provide key modelling tools to be used across the University to articulate strategic plans and evaluate the financial impact of potential changes
  • Support the development of long-term financial forecasts, ensuring that future plans are correctly reflected in current modelling

To be successful in the role you will have/be:

  • Professionally qualified with a relevant degree/postgraduate qualification (CCAB or equivalent) 
  • Strong experience in a management accounting role in a complex organisation working at a strategic and operational level
  • Experience of all aspects of financial management and financial reporting
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to co-ordinate and engage multiple stakeholders to ensure successful delivery
