An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Associate to join our team based in the Inverness office, to support our growing client base of SMEs and individuals in the Highlands. This is a developing team which provides services to a range of clients including high net worth private clients, SME’s/corporates and entrepreneurs. We believe in providing our clients with a high quality, cost effective and reliable personal service.

What you will do

Your role will involve:

  •  Assisting with bookkeeping for clients including processing invoices and bank transactions on accounting software and reconciling bank accounts
  • Preparation of management and annual accounts for a variety of clients including Limited Companies, Sole Traders, Partnerships, LLP, Trusts and Charities.  The clients operate in a wide range of sectors including farming, landed estates, professionals, service industries, SMEs and high net worth individuals
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Liaison and communication with Managers and Partners
  • Completion of work to agreed timescales and budgets
  • Ad-hoc administrative assistance

What we are looking for

We are looking for a dedicated individual with the following key skills, knowledge and experience:

  • A person who takes pride in their work, demonstrating excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft office Excel and Word
  • Working knowledge of accounts production software such as SAGE, Xero or Quickbooks would be advantageous but not essential
  • Works as a team player but is also able to demonstrate a high level of initiative and self-motivation
  • Good time management and the ability to work under pressure to meet client deadlines
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and has an interest in career development/progression
  • A recent university graduate, ideally in accounting or finance, a school leaver with good academic results and transferable skills or someone with experience of working in practice

Opportunity available to study towards and achieve ACCA or AAT qualifications, which will be supported by the Firm.
