Management Accountant
We are looking for a Management Accountant to be a key member of a small Finance team; playing a leading role in the financial management of the organisation.
You will be working for an iconic and dynamic charity, providing first-class solutions to environmental challenges. For more than 60 years, they have campaigned for cleaner, greener places and delivered programmes aimed at encouraging organisations and individuals to reduce their environmental impact. The work of the charity has never been more informed, important and urgent.
Position: Management Accountant
Location: Wigan, London or remote (with the ability to travel into one of the offices as required).
Hours: Part-time, 3 to 4 days per week (22.5-30 hours)
Salary: £35,000-£37,000 per annum pro-rata
Contract: Permanent

About the role:
As Management Accountant you will have responsibility for managing financial systems, processes and procedures, and for the preparation of accurate financial information. The role reports directly to the Finance Director and can be based in either of the offices (London or Wigan) or performed remotely with the ability to travel to either of the offices.
Duties will include:
- Preparation and posting of monthly and year end transactions
- Review and reconciliation of financial data and variance analysis
- Credit control
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and other reports
- Business partnering
- Review and updating of finance systems, processes and procedures as necessary
- VAT and PAYE returns
- Preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Assistance in the preparation of statutory accounts
This role is being brought in to shadow a current member of staff who plans to retire next Spring. During this phase a new accounting package is being developed, so you will have a long handover period to allow in-depth role shadowing as well as significant engagement in the development of the new system.
About you:
Ideally you will be Qualified or Part Qualified CIMA/ACCA although significant experience of working in a similar role will also be considered. Experience of charity accounting is desirable but not essential. You will be a good team player, have excellent communication and organisational skills, and a flexible approach to this wide ranging role. Experience of MS Business Central and new systems implementation would also be valuable.
