Special Investigators #380

£350 + VAT (day rate)

Bangui, Africa

3 months

Our partner is an international humanitarian and development organisation. In fragile contexts, they work with local communities and service providers in creating food security, and frontline aid workers in offering healthcare, education, and assuring security and justice. They are seeking urgent support in the Central African Republic, where they have been working in 7 provinces for just under 15 years.

They had considerable challenges in their CAR offices, and as a result had to let go of the Country Director and senior management. A combination of the audit & investigative reports, as well as a needs analysis undertaken by the incoming Country Director, offer an indication on the extent of support required. They are seeking the support of two finance professionals to support them in:

  • Reviewing the investigative audit & assessing the control environment
  • Reviewing grants finance compliance
  • Supporting in a fraud investigation, including undertaking asset verification

Requirements

  • Qualified or qualified by experience accountant with experience in undertaking special investigations (including fraud) and controls/finance systems strengthening.
  • Strong background in the financial compliance of grants; experience of working with the World Bank, European Commission, Global Fund will be looked upon favourably.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience of working in a fragile state.
  • Fluent French is desirable, but not essential
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, changing environment.

They are seeking someone able to travel to Bangui in the next 5-7 days, at the earliest by the end of October. The assignment is anticipated to last until 15 December, with a possible extension to 1 April, 2022. The individual will largely be based in Bangui. The organisation will cover the cost of travel, accommodation and food in country. They are looking to offer a day rate. They are seeking a quick tournaround on both roles, and therefore early applications are encouraged.
