In a nutshell

This role is responsible for supporting Sainsbury's Brand and the food commercial leadership teams to deliver their strategic and financial plan. The job holder will provide support and challenge, working cross-functionally with business Stakeholders to deliver Sainsbury's Brand and Food First performance analysis. The job holder will support in the tracking and delivery of financial benefits, as well as support with set deliverables such as period end and budget processes.

What you need to do

Run and interpret management reporting to provide timely insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders

Identify risks, anomalies and opportunities within Sainsbury's Brand and Food First and flag these to the Finance Manager / Senior Finance Managers for prioritisation

Develop cross-functional working relationships with Sainsbury's Brand, the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability team, Investor Relations, Business Unit finance teams and Commercial Strategy

Build an understanding of an external perspective and use to engage Finance colleagues

Complete ad hoc / bespoke analysis and reporting for the business area as required to drive improvements

Work with our Finance Transformation, Marketing Analytics and Tech teams as required to complete analysis to resolve business problems

In line with timeline and process set by Retail FP&A, work with business to manage periodic reporting, forecasting, Centrals and Budgeting for Own Brand.

Support the design of management reporting, ensuring it is fit for purpose, streamlined and aligns to that prepared for the other commercial areas

Support Sainsbury's Brand with business cases and analysis for post implementation reviews

Support Sainsbury's Brand to manage project budgets, working with commercial and other Finance teams where collaborative projects demands this

Support the wider team Central Trading team on other Finance processes and budgets as required

Stepping up to cover the Finance Manager where needed

Attend business review meetings supporting our Stakeholders as needed

Success in this role will mean supporting the business in making decisions that enhance performance to drive incremental income for the business, improving ROI performance and managing costs effectively

What you need to know and show

Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA), or studying towards qualification

Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight and being able to clearly articulate this through your communication

Strong commercial acumen

To have a good track record of strong financial control, but also the ability to maintain such an environment

Effective communicator, influencer and challenger of all levels of stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen

Self-motivated team player, able to work autonomously, prioritise with good problem-solving abilities

Must have a strong eye for detail and accuracy
