In a nutshell

To ensure the integrity and controls of accounting COE processing for the Sainsburys and Argos Ledgers of property establishment and facilities management (FM) costs, including the resulting entries in the Period and Statutory Accounts. Support other areas of the business in respect of property establishment and FM queries and the relationship with property service providers (Cushmans and CBRE) and FM service providers (Arcus). This is to enable the business to manage costs and satisfy their fiduciary duties to the Company.

What you need to do
  • Manage 2 direct report and 2 indirect reports to ensure processing of journals for property establishment and FM costs each period is timely and in accordance with Group Policy
  • Responsible for accounting for FM and property establishment costs for Argos and Sainsburys including Rent, Rates, Service Charge. Including monthly journals, management account information and audit support
  • Work alongside group finance and the property business partnering team to manage and monitor onerous lease and dilaps provisons
  • Regular review and analysis of balance sheets, following best practice
  • Ensure that a robust financial control environment exists within the teams ,evidenced by correct accounting procedures being complied with and periodic Balance Sheet account reconciliations being performed and timely reporting of risks/opportunities
  • Main contact with External Auditors in relation to property establishment and FM queries throughout the year
  • Review processes within the Team with a view to improving efficiency and accuracy of data
  • Recruit and develop a strong team with ability for moving into other finance roles as opportunities.


What you need to know and show
  • Qualified accountant, including experience ideally within retail or an equivalent fast moving organisation
  • Experience of maintaining strong financial controls
  • Ideally experience of the Oracle system
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills
  • Strong team management / supervisory skills
  • High level of energy and drive
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated team player, able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with other stakeholders
  • Able to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines in a constantly changing environment
