Reporting to the Finance Director, with responsibility for Management Accounting & Business Partnering teams, your core duties will include;

Reporting to the Finance Director, with responsibility for Management Accounting & Business Partnering teams, your core duties will include;
- Oversee and contribute to the production of the periodic Management Accounts in line with agreed company accounting policies and procedures
- Oversee preparation and distribution of periodic Management Accounts packs including detailed Board packs, group reporting packs, profit and loss accounts, periodic Performance Summaries and KPIs to strict monthly timetables
- Continually monitor, challenge, review and amend as necessary all accounting entries and methodologies to ensure that the periodic accounting process is continually improved and meets the needs of the business.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly accruals, prepayments and provisions in relation to overheads for the management accounts to strict monthly timetables.
- Oversee the preparation of periodic postings for payroll and associated costs, together with the resolution of payroll related accounting reconciling items
- Ensure the accurate maintenance of an up-to-date property database to ensure meaningful allocation of property overheads.
- Ensure cost allocation basis for delivery support costs are constantly reviewed and accurately applied each period
- Oversee and contribute to the periodic reconciliation of designated balance sheet accounts with documentary evidence and calculations to support all balances. This includes the formal review and sign-off of reconciliations produced by the management accounting team.
- Drive high quality cost control across the Management Accounting function, understanding key cost drivers, variances, influences and future forecasts.
- Drive excellent communication of our cost base, bringing the detail to life for other Finance teams and the Board
- Co-ordinate the preparation of periodic forecasts, developing relationships with specific cost centre managers to facilitate an effective service to Operations.
- Lead the team in achieving expert level for cost areas for which they are responsible
- Support the team in monthly P&L reviews with operations, utilising the suite of financial and KPI reports available
- Work in conjunction with the Commercial Finance team to provide financial performance forecasts
- Oversee the production of the cost base forecast, including direct and allocated costs, ensuring that all costs are captured and are based on robust assumptions and business intelligence.
- Input into and support the consolidation of long-term forecasts and supplementary analysis
Key requirements;
- Experienced qualified accountant with a minimum of 3-5 years PQE, preceded by a strong academic record
- Previous experience in a Senior Accountant or Finance Manager role in a fast moving, high volume environment
- Ability to lead & coordinate a team.
- Demonstrable experience of successfully managing and developing staff (including qualified accounting staff).
- Proven analytical and reporting skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Proactive, self motivated attitude.
- Ability to influence and support direct reports towards achieving business objectives.
- Ability to deal with and manage through conflicting priorities and a number of tasks running concurrently
- Process change experience
- Demonstrable experience of designing and leading implementation of new processes
