An exciting opportunity has arisen at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust and we are looking to recruit a Senior Divisional Finance Manager for the Medicine & Emergency Care (MEC) Division.

Are you highly motivated and can you make a difference? This role is pivotal to the Division and the Finance Department providing financial leadership, advice, training and support to the Division to ensure the achievement of financial targets and reporting requirements.

We are seeking an excellent communicator, a team player, someone who enjoys a challenge and is motivated by financial continual improvements.

You need to be a CCAB qualified accountant with experience of working closely with Divisional Directors, Clinicians, Directorate Managers and budget holders.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Provide financial leadership to the Division, including Clinical Directors and Divisional Business Managers, and other budget holders in support of maintaining a balanced budgetary position.

To take a pro-active role in the division to ensure the engagement and a thorough understanding of the divisions performance both within the division and the Trust.

Ensure all internal and external reporting requirements are delivered, in an accurate, timely, and relevant manner that will enable managers to provide an efficient and affective service within the resources available.

The role is wide ranging, encompassing financial performance management and business planning matters which are integral to the achievement of the division's financial targets. A proactive approach is essential to ensure that financial resources are used efficiently and effectively.

The post holder will be responsible for managing members of their team and providing cover as and when required for members of the Senior Finance Team in attending meetings or presenting financial information.

Provide support for either the Head of Financial Management and Financial Management Team as and when required.

Provide a leadership and management role for the Deputy Divisional Finance manager and Divisional Financial Management support team.

Act as the Senior Finance Representative at formal Committees or Sub-Groups as and when required.

Lead, plan and organise cross divisional projects, these are likely to be in the form of service developments or transformational projects.

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.

Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS)

The healthcare sector is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary. However, if you are applying for a post as a BANK worker, the payment must be made in full at the time of employment checks. The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £44.00 and for a Standard Disclosure £27.00 which includes a small handling fee.
