Finance Manager E&I - Europe

Would you like to play an integral role within the BAE Systems Air Sector? We currently have a vacancy for a Finance Manager within our Europe and International Team (E&I Europe) at our site in Warton.

BAE Systems Air Sector is a through-life business which delivers advanced military air capability both to our UK and many overseas customers. Air E&I (Europe & International) is responsible for the delivery of our European & International commitments for Typhoon, Tornado and Hawk, including production aircraft, aircraft capability, and through life support.

As Finance Manager you will be covering all the key components including the production of Contract Status Reports, challenge to Estimates at Completion, involvement in the risk management process, support to commercial opportunities, cash forecasting as well as month end reporting and business planning. Whilst elements of the role are routine, the balance is varied and is often urgent so the ability to motivate the team and deliver to deadlines is essential.

Your main responsibilities as a Finance Manager will involve:

  • Leadership of the finance employees in your team, as well as developing leadership skills across the Enterprise (Customers and Suppliers)
  • Building and managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across the project teams and the wider business from the Project Manager and end customer through to the E&I Central Reporting team
  • Continually review current activities in order to identify and implement efficiency improvements through standardisation of processes and utilisation of digital technology; actively support the Finance Modernisation Programme.
  • Present high quality and accurate financial analysis which provides financial insights and aids decision making.
  • Drive financial performance through the Monthly Forecast and Business Planning processes across Air UK. Ensure expectations are clearly articulated and agreed.
  • Identify and report on key opportunities, risks and associated mitigation actions affecting the contract performance.

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Experience of people management is required
  • Proven experience of business partnering
  • Experience, in a leadership role, of engaging with non-Finance staff and providing decision support to senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrable level of business acumen, with focus on improvement
  • Courage and Adaptability
  • A professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) - essential

Experience of working in project accounting within a manufacturing environment and used to dealing with large scale projects
