Purpose of the job

Provide support and assistance to the Directors, Managers and Administrators in connection to the services provided by Ocorian Services Limited. This will involve managing the preparation of clients' financial statements, management accounts, tax returns and any other financial reports as may be required. To take responsibility for the management and technical support of a team of accountants.

To ensure adherence with Ocorian policy and procedure, smooth running of operation of the team under supervision and provide high quality service to Ocorian’s clients.


Main responsibilities

Accounting Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for an allocated portfolio of clients
  • Plan, set and manage the deadlines of the portfolio of clients in accordance with the agreed calendar defined by each relevant jurisdiction
  • Ensure overall quality of bookkeeping, financial statements, management accounts and other financial reports are up to required standards at all times
  • Liaise with relevant jurisdictions and/or clients to ensure efficient delivery of output and client service expectations
  • Review bank, investment, property report recording and any other reconciliation
  • Review VAT returns for clients as prepared by Assistant Manager / Senior Accountants / Accountants / Assistant Accountant / Junior Accountants
  • Review and/or delegate appropriately the work of, provide guidance and constructive feedback to Assistant Manager / Senior Accountants / Accountants / Assistant Accountant / Junior Accountants
  • Liaise with the appointed Auditors and administrators to complete the audit of financial statements in accordance with defined timetables
  • Communicate effectively with the Accounting team to ensure they are aware of deadlines and expectations in terms of timing
  • Act as main accounting CoE point of contact with key client personnel
  • Monitor, control and balance the workload of the team
  • Ensure that Ocorian policy and procedures are adhered to
  • Be aware of risk exposure and promptly escalate issues arising to other members or on the book of work to the Management team
  • Oversee the work of Senior Accountants / Accountants / Assistant Accountants and liaise with administration teams to determine and prioritise client deadlines
  • Assist with the update and maintenance of financial statements’ templates in accordance with appropriate GAAP (UK, IFRS, Singapore and Luxembourg)
  • To provide accounting service to clients in various jurisdictions within the Ocorian Group.

General Management Responsibilities

  • Assist with the budgeting process and maintain team capacity, monitor staff workloads, chargeable hours and their comparison with budget
  • Continuously identify opportunities to enhance and develop the service provided by the Client Accounting and communicate these to the next level higher or Head
  • Participate in and contribute to management meetings and implement decisions taken or carry out any function/activity reasonably required by the Directors or Span of Control Committee
  • Manage and ensure proper allocation and appointment of tasks to team members with the appropriate skills and experience
  • Take an active role in projects within the Ocorian group to enhance the client delivery and increase efficiency of the business
  • Carry out any function/activity required by the Management team or Directors from time to time
  • Ensure all internal reporting on team performance is completed in accordance with set deadlines

.People Management Responsibilities

  • Motivate and engage employees through effective communication and manage their career expectations
  • Identify training needs and opportunities within the team
  • Take ownership of various aspects of team management, including involvement in the annual staff appraisal process as appropriate, holiday management, personal and professional development of team members, and with support and guidance from HR, handle disciplinary and performance issues.
     

Information Security

  • Comply with all information security policies, procedures and guidelines in place at Ocorian to ensure information security.
  • Protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information on Ocorian, its clients and employees at all times to safeguard the professional reputation of Ocorian, its employees and its clients


Qualifications

  • ACCA/ACA fully qualified
  • A post graduate study is desirable
  • Finance Industry and or Accounting/Auditing experience within or with exposure to the Islamic Finance/Private Client/Real Estate/Private Equity Investment holding or Capital Markets environment is desirable.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge and experience of accounting for a range of fund structures (with a particular emphasis on Islamic Finance/Real Estate funds) is desirable
  • Ideally a minimum of 8 years’ post qualification experience
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS. Knowledge of UK GAAP and other relevant accounting framework is essential
  • Experience with eFront, Navision and ValueFinancials would be desirable
  • Strong IT skills
  • Proven people management skills with 3 years of experience at management level
