They have a duty to uphold the highest standards of integrity and probity and to foster good relationships.

The role of an Associate Non-Executive Director (Associate NED) helps achieve a balance of Board level skills and is a "step up" role aimed to attract potential Non-Executive Director candidates who do not yet have (sufficient) Board level experience but have the ability and potential to success in a Trust Board level role.

Associate NEDs have the ability to learn and influence and operate as a full member of the team and take full part in all aspects of Board work, including as members of Board Committees. The only difference from a full NED is that Associate NEDs do not participate in any formal vote at the Board and as they are not Directors of the Trust or Board members, they do not have the associated rights or liabilities.

We are seeking to appoint someone with a passion for patient care, lived experience and patient engagement to improve care outcomes for patients. The role will include project -based work, agreed with the Director of Nursing and Non-Executive Director leading on quality, linked to the monitoring and implementation of:
  • the Quality and Safety Strategy
  • the Patient and Carer's Experience, Participation and Equality Strategy
  • End of Life Care

The role will also support the Trust's quality improvement journey from CQC 'Good' to CQC 'Outstanding', and influence and to continually improve the standards of care our communities receive.
