The three-year Advisory Graduate Programme is your opportunity to learn our sector inside out, get real experience on real projects and achieve a recognised professional qualification. We’ll cover your exam fees and give you the study leave and extra training you’ll need to pass them while you balance your own workload. That training isn’t just about passing the exams, you’ll learn a range of personal, management and client-related skills that will help you become a full rounded BDO advisor and achieve your full potential.

The salary for this role is £28,000 and your job title will be Junior Tax Associate.

Programme & Qualification

BDO offer the ACA CTA Joint Programme enabling you to become Associate Chartered Accountants (ACA) and Chartered Tax Advisors (CTA) . You will gain two qualification from two institutes under a Level 7 apprenticeship. The ACA CTA Joint Programme gives you the opportunity to specialise in one of three areas – taxation of major corporates, owner-managed businesses or indirect tax. The programme offers a fast-track route to become a specialist in tax. The duration of this programme is 36 months.

You will be required to use your previous experience and work closely with, and support senior members within the team, assist in the timely delivery of services and the provision of exceptional client service to ultimately help our clients to succeed. You will gain understanding and experience in the field of M&A for corporate or strategic buyers, private equity or financial buyers and vendors, and work for listed businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of M&A projects playing a supporting role to senior members within the team
  • Respond promptly to queries and requests and keep team members informed of project developments
  • Undertake ‘hands on’ field work (including interpretation and analysis of information and report writing) in a variety of sectors as part of a team
  • Produce discrete sections of reports containing minimal errors, in a clear, concise manner
  • Establish good working relationships with clients and targets
  • Support sales and marketing activities
  • Assist with administration, compliance and ad hoc projects within the department
  • Seek and take action on feedback and drive your own development
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to working practices including travelling to meeting client needs
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic business skills
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the firm’s products, services and policies
  • Prepare reports, information memoranda and documents using Word and PowerPoint
  • Prepare financial models using Excel
  • Deliver high quality working papers and reports to specified deadlines
  • Successfully study towards your professional qualification and, where relevant, corresponding apprenticeship

  • A 2:2 degree in any discipline (obtained or predicted)
  • Three A-levels or equivalent at A* to C excluding General Studies and Extended Projects (obtained or predicted)
  • A 9–4 in Maths and English at GCSE or equivalent (we will also consider qualifications from outside the UK)
