Description

Reporting to the Finance & Operations Manager this is a newly created position to provide key accounting support across the entire finance function of the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to work within the sports industry for a growing organisation.

ORGANISATIONAL OVERVIEW:

Oceania Rugby is one of six regional associations of World Rugby, responsible for representing the interests of its 16 Members. Oceania Rugby works closely with Member Unions on the development and reach of Rugby in the region to promote the growth of Rugby throughout Oceania. Central to this is a series of tournaments and development programs run and coordinated by Oceania Rugby. Oceania Rugby's sport for development programs contribute to achieving gender equality, reducing inequality, and ending violence against women and children, and are built around rugby values: respect, integrity, solidarity, discipline, and passion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Accountant will work alongside other members of the Finance Team, assisting with and owning various deliverables of the day-to-day accounting and operational functions of the organisation including but not limited to:
  • Reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts
  • Accounts receivable/payable functions
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Processing of payroll
  • Lodgements of taxes including GST and PAYG withholding
  • Month-end reporting
  • Preparation of year end accounts
  • Completion of the monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets and depreciation schedules
  • Annual audit process
  • Budgeting and forecasting process
  • Maintenance of accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Assisting in process improvement and systems enhancement initiatives

KEY ATTRIBUTES:
  • Ability to take initatitive and work autonomously
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlins
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive internal and external relationships throughout Oceania.
  • An interest and understanding of the sports industry and more specifically rugby will be highly regarded
  • Experience working within a professional sporting team will be highly regarded

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • The position is full time with flexible working hours available for the successful candidate.
  • The position is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
  • The position is based in Sydney with a flexible working approach provided.
  • The successful candidate must have the right to live and work in Australia at the time of application.
  • Travel within Australia and the Oceania region will be required from time to time.
