Role Summary/Purpose:

The AVP, Controllership Project Analyst is responsible for the delivery of Controllership initiatives related to simplification of processes. This role will require collaboration with key controllership leads, cross functional business teams and others within the finance organization. This individual interfaces with all levels of the organization and across the various teams within the organization. This is a high visibility position and the right candidate represents core values such as leadership, candor, productivity, responsiveness, quality and collaboration. This role is evaluated by their collaboration, the caliber and clarity of their communication, the effectiveness of their ability to gain cross team alignment and by the success of the product launch readiness.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Challenge and inspire cross-functional team members to achieve business results in a fast paced and quickly changing environment
  • Contribute to continual process improvement and innovation, supporting effective delivery of solutions
  • Work cross functionally to drive automation of manual processes
  • Lead individual projects and perform other duties and/or other special assignments
  • Work with controllership and business teams to shape business requirements and provide on-going communication through project execution
  • Understand and communicate client business needs to the internal team
  • Promote high standards of professional integrity on all proposed and actual business solutions
  • Work with a geographically dispersed team to complete all aspects of the project
  • Coordinate efforts of users and other team members to determine root cause of issues, and be part of the resolution process
  • Establish and maintain cross-functional relationships and provide critical communication to key leaders and stakeholder regarding status, milestones, and issue resolution
  • Function independently on concurrent projects of varying size and complexity, involving cross-functional teams and schedule constraints
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline / ACCA
  • Minimum 7-8 years of Accounting experience
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in automation/simplification around financial processes
  • Hands on experience on Project Management
  • Advanced PC skills (Excel) – operating systems, GL, and other accounting\financial systems

Desired Characteristics:

  • Possesses proficiency in creating SharePoint workflows, developing VB scripts and developing Tableau reporting Information Science or related technical degree preferred
  • Strong business acumen including a broad understanding of Synchrony Financial business processes and practices
