The opportunity

Transaction Strategy and Execution – Finance M&A works on the most complex and high-profile global transactions, across a broad portfolio of clients and industry sectors. We advise CFO’s of Fortune 500 companies as they undertake complex mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.  We are a group of highly experienced professionals with a background in M&A, Finance, and Strategy who are serial transaction advisers, which enables us to bring a wealth of deep sector and functional knowledge to our clients. As a team, we develop integration strategies, prepare and execute separation and integration plans, identify ideas and sources of value enhancement, as well as advise on risk mitigation and the successful change of operations, functions and people.  You will join one of the fastest growing practices at EY and in the industry where you will find plenty of opportunities for your professional growth and development.

Your key responsibilities

As a Consultant in Transaction Strategy and Execution - Finance M&A, you will be a vital member of the practice supporting and executing M&A projects, focused on the CFO agenda and the Finance function. You'll assist with the execution of projects across sectors, supporting our client service team in developing and executing strategies for transactions. Part of your role will also involve developing experience across a range of different type of engagements, including pre-deal (e.g. operational and carve-out planning) and post-deal (e.g. integration planning, tracking. Having a commercial mind-set is key to this consulting-based role.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or Analytics and 2 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 18 months of related work experience.
  • MBA is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of and experience in the Finance function.
  • Management consulting experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, planning, order-to-cash, and procure-to-pay.
  • Knowledge of or experience with financial information systems such as SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, Cognos and/or other common systems.
  • Experience in financial process benchmarking, finance organization design, process redesign, shared services, process outsourcing and/or transition service agreements (TSA) desirable.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • The ability to prioritize effectively on projects and the skills to adapt quickly to new challenges and concepts.
  • Solid negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to develop long-lasting relationships both internally and externally.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the confidence to translate complex data into meaningful insights.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 80% on short notice.

Ideally you’ll also have

  • Previous experience in a mergers or acquisitions transactions role.
  • Some additional industry experience.
  • Experience gained within another large professional services organization.
  • Established networking skills in a relevant industry.
