Examples of Duties

The Fiscal General Accountant provides expertise, analysis, and coordination of all payroll accounting information for the financial management of the Colorado Community College System Office. Additionally, this position records all accounts receivable transactions for the System office. They interact frequently with internal and external customers for the accounts receivable needs of the Lowry Conference Center.

The person in this position will
  • Organize and maintain all bi-weekly, monthly, and off-cycle information including journal entries, checklists, and payroll to finance reconciliation reports.
  • Run payroll redistributions for all colleges within our system and the System Office on a weekly basis and more frequently during fiscal year-end.
  • Answer questions and provide support and feedback to the Central Payroll Office and college payroll personnel.
  • Run bi-weekly and monthly payroll, processing jobs and encumbrance release processing for all colleges and the System Office.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Relevant experience in the field may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two years of progressively responsible work experience in accounting or a related field.

  • Ability to perform standard functions for accounting-related needs in Access Databases and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to make ethical and sound professional judgment decisions.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service.

Work Location/Travel Expectations
  • Physical location: 9101 E Lowry Blvd Denver, CO 80230.
  • Limited travel may occur for professional development/training opportunities as well as Finance team gatherings.
CCCS offers the option of alternative work arrangements (remote work/adjusted schedules). All employees' work must take place within the state of Colorado.
