This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Auditor to join us as an Assistant Manager, within our Group Internal Audit team, working for one of the largest Building Societies in the UK. The role will focus on Operational and Conduct risks, with the successful applicant working and leading on a varied portfolio of audit assignments, across the Connells Estate Agency Group (the largest subsidiary of the Building Society). Group Internal Audit are the third line of defence within the Skipton Building Society (SBS) Group, providing independent insight, assurance, and opinions to stakeholders within the organisation.

What You'll Be Doing

The Group Internal Audit portfolio covers the whole Skipton Group of companies within the UK, Channel Islands and New Zealand. This includes Connells Group which is a fully owned group company of SBS and is the largest Estate Agency in the UK. You will be part of the SBS Group Internal Audit team, and this role will focus on the delivery of Operational and Conduct Risk audits across the Connells Group.

You will work on and lead a wide range of audits covering all aspects of the Connells Group, including assessing:

- Operational and conduct risks in Estate Agency, Lettings and Surveying;
- FCA regulated activities provided through our Mortgage Services businesses;
- Financial Crime;
- Data Protection; and
- Change management.

This role enables you to further develop your technical skills in Operational and Conduct Risk auditing along with coaching and developing colleagues. As an Assistant Manager, you will be accountable for the delivery of a number of audit assignments providing direction and empowerment to the Group Internal Audit delivery team. You'll be engaging with stakeholders across the Connells Group, to help deliver the Internal Audit Plan and to provide feedback on audit outcomes and prepare audit reports to encourage appropriate action. Through continuous monitoring you will build trusted relationships with stakeholders across the business, sharing insights and providing opinions. There will also be opportunities for you to be involved in various projects and initiatives across the SBS Group.

The SBS Group Head Office is based in Skipton, North Yorkshire and Connells Group have Head Offices in Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes. We've adapted well to home working during the current pandemic so there would not be a requirement for you to be based at one of our Head Office full time. We are also happy to consider any flexible working requests you may have. Due to the nature of the role work away from home will be required, this may be up to 25% of your time.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone with experience in leading Operational and Conduct related audits who can help us manage risks effectively. You'll be able to manage varying workloads and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

The key competencies for this role are:
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written);
- Analytical skills;
- Stakeholder management;
- Experience working in a regulated environment; and
- Organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
