The EY-Parthenon analytics practice specializes in solving business problems by leveraging data science and utilizing a broad range of data sets and analytical capabilities. You will be expected to quickly learn the clients’ business objectives and lead the quantitative analysis to support key strategic decisions. This requires both a strong understanding of business strategy as well as a deep technical knowledge of data modeling, big data platforms and statistical analysis and visualization tools. You will play a role in the growth of analytics practice through project execution, client development, and intellectual property & product development. The ideal candidate will have both deep technical expertise in data and analytics as well as business functional knowledge of the sales, marketing, and/or pricing domains. The opportunity

Transaction Strategy and Execution – Operational Analytics Consultants are responsible for executing client needs and project tasks by applying data analytics techniques like visualization, statistical analysis, optimization, or machine learning to real-world business problems. Our teams work on a variety of client issues including developing long-term strategies for organizations, evaluating the potential impact of an acquisition, sizing market growth potential, optimizing marketing and pricing strategies, reducing operational costs, and evaluating new business opportunities.

Works on the most complex and high profile global transactions, across a broad portfolio of clients and industry sectors. We are a group of experienced industry professionals with a background in operations who are serial transaction advisers, which enables us to bring a wealth of deep sector and functional knowledge to our clients. As a team, we prepare and execute separation and integration plans by solving business problems at the intersection of operations research and data science in a broad range of analytics disciplines, including:

Your key responsibilities

Within the EY-Parthenon team, Consultant level responsibilities include:

  • Performing analytical research using a variety of data sources and modeling techniques iteratively incorporating client feedback and communicating the methodology and results to drive business impact
  • Executing various analyses (e.g., customer segmentation, market sizing, marketing lift, pricing optimization, economic forecasting, network optimization, clustering and regression analysis, geospatial modeling) to support the strategic recommendations
  • Understanding and enriching client and industry market data to directly support our client engagement teams in performing detailed analysis
  • Developing, reviewing, and communicating business plans and financial models to size opportunities and identify key assumptions and driver

Skills and attributes for success

Experience in managing and/or supervising a team of analytics professionals through all phases of the engagement lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, development, testing, and post-delivery support.

  • Demonstrate high levels of technical and professional knowledge and quickly assimilate new knowledge.
  • Demonstrate quality project execution and delivery by successfully monitoring project/program team economics, performance against the job arrangement and budget.
  • The ability to team and collaborate for the purposes of effectively designing and implementing engagement objectives, strategies, and solutions that address client needs.
  • The ability to manage engagements in a rigorous, time-sensitive environment while delivering high-quality solutions through the management of cross-functional teams and remote resources.
  • The ability to foster an innovative and team-oriented work environment committed to developing knowledge, continuing to learn, and share knowledge with clients and team members alike.
  • Excellent industry knowledge staying abreast of current business and industry developments relevant to the client's business, and act as a leader in adopting new tools and techniques.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or Analytics and 2years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 18 months of related work experience in using data, programming, and mathematical techniques to solve business issues related to pricing, products, markets, customers, and locations to identify and seize business opportunities, and deliver customer insights.
  • A degree in statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, operations research, industrial / systems engineering, business analytics, or related data science relevant work experience (e.g., Machine Learning, AI, finance, business, or economics)
  • A strong aptitude for quantitative analysis including data manipulation, cleaning, and visualization
  • The ability to connect complex business situations to data requirements, analysis techniques, and data visualizations to formulate potential solutions for our clients
  • Excellent analytical, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Unwavering integrity, work ethic, and flexibility to quickly adapt to new environments/client engagements
  • Proficiency of analytical tools and languages including Python, R, SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50-80% on short notice. Due to the pandemic, EY-P is currently working from home until further notice.
  • Proficient in the English language, including the ability to listen, understand, read and communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, in a professional environment
  • Willing and able to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective organization and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Previous experience in a mergers or acquisitions transactions role.
  • Experience gained within another large professional services organization.
  • Established networking skills in a relevant industry.
