Job description

We're recruiting across 16 UK of our UK offices. Join us in one of the following locations: Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Luton, Manchester, Newcastle, Reading and Southampton.

Elevate is your opportunity to join EY as a Senior within Audit. If you're qualified or will be qualifying soon, and are currently working at a small tier firm, this opportunity could be for you. This bespoke programme offers you the opportunity to build on your existing knowledge and technical expertise gained from a smaller tier firm.

You’ll gain the opportunity to work with a breadth of companies across varied industries. And benefit from working with the latest technology within diverse and inclusive teams. As your role develops, you will have opportunities to expand your knowledge and technical skillset into new and exciting areas. And you won't do it alone. We'll help you transition into a large professional services environment by providing you with quality and in-depth training from day one. From work shadowing, to regular Q&A sessions, your dedicated team of learning and development professionals and wider network will provide you with the ongoing support to succeed.

The opportunity

From small businesses to some of the world’s best-known brands, our clients count on reliable financial statements, information and processes to inform their ongoing strategies. More than ever, business is about interpreting and reacting to complex data — and they look to us for advice and services they can trust every time. You’ll use your professional skills and experience to make it happen, handling complex audit procedures across a broad range of industries.

You’ll help our clients meet their reporting requirements by accurately reporting on financial statements and providing meaningful insights into accounting and reporting matters. In return, you can expect learning and development tailored to your unique interests and motivations. You’ll be given all the skills, knowledge and opportunities to progress and become ready to build a better working world for our people, our clients and the communities that support us.

Your key responsibilities

Everything you’ll do will come back to providing exceptional audit activities for our clients. Colleagues and clients from a diverse array of backgrounds will look to you first for answers, so you’ll be a high-profile contact when it comes to resolving complex issues. As you build your knowledge and experience, you’ll become a credible advisor, influencing clients and engagement teams on resolutions that will impact entire industries.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Completing audit processes and documenting higher-risk areas to increase your technical and business skills in areas including revenue, financial instruments, and income taxes
  • Engaging clients and providing authoritative advice and professionalism throughout transactions
  • Constantly developing your understanding of current market trends and processes and sharing your knowledge to develop junior colleagues
  • Understanding our clients’ unique ambitions and needs and referring them to colleagues in other teams and areas to broaden our business relationships where possible

To qualify for the role:

  • Coming from Small tier to Mid-tier firm locally based in a UK City
  • Having some experience of Audit
  • Recently qualify or will be qualify by this year
  • ACA/CA/ACCA (ICAEW, ICAS, Irish Institute or equivalent international qualification)
  • Excellent communication and a collaborative approach to management
  • Proven experience in delivering external audit and assurance engagements.
  • Ideally having UK GAAP and IFRS and UK market experience

What we look for

We’re interested in leaders with a genuine creative vision and the confidence to make it happen. You can expect plenty of autonomy in this role, so you’ll also need the ability to take initiative and seek out opportunities to improve our current relationships and processes. If you’re serious about auditing and ready to take on some of our clients’ most complex issues, this role is for you.
