Risk Manager – Abu Dhabi

An experienced Risk Specialist is required to join a growing brand within the Insurance market. The successful candidate will contribute to shaping and implementing the Risk Plan across the Company and will be responsible for all risk activities.

The role is Abu Dhabi, UAE based - relocation required. Company Visa and relocation assistance if needed.

Key Duties:

  • Responsible to facilitate the assessment of material risk across the Company, ensure appropriate ownership and action is taken by management for risks outside the accepted risk appetite
  • Create, implement and manage the Risk Management policies and procedures
  • Set up and manage a risk registry, risk best practices and required governing regulations
  • Create an effective risk culture across the Company by ensuring that risk management is a core part of the business activities and decision making
  • Provide governance and guidance on applicable laws, rules, regulations for all stakeholders
  • Awareness of regulatory requirements in respect of ‘advised’ and ‘non-advised’ sales an, in particular, evidencing the standards and knowledge required in respect of giving advice and making a decisions
  • Support business activities by providing risk assessments, monitor and report on activities and include action taken in respect of the resolution of Internal Audit and Compliance Monitoring issues
  • Create and manage a robust control environment with approved work-flows, approval matrix and tracking mechanisms
  • Develop and maintain internal control process
  • Facilitate the escalation processes, including risk events and appetite breachers in accordance with business risk management policy
  • Contribute to the risk moderation, coverage and correlation processes
  • Drive effective root cause analysis
  • Facilitate completion of, and challenge the outputs of periodical Risk Maturity Assessments
  • Conduct gap analysis, identify risks, provide remedial action planning and
  • Ensure all stakeholders are aware of existing and new regulatory requirements
  • Provide challenges to the business on the adherence to risk appetite statements and limits
  • Develop internal and external relationships to assist in providing an efficient service ensure that meets the requirements of the business
  • Provide risk support to key projects and/or initiatives to ensure that risk materiality assessments are completed followed by a full risk assessment when required.
  • Provide clients and partners with exceptional risk guidance and assessment


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Economics
  • ACII completion or ICA qualifications
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in the relevant field an asset
  • Preferred Experience:
  • 8-10 years of experience, preferably with UK compliance companies in a highly regulated environment

Job-Specific Skills:

  • Excellent financial, commercial and risk management acumen in the regulatory market (wealth management, employee benefits sectors)
  • Excellent global insurance industry regulatory and legislation knowledge
  • verbal and written communication skills to communicate product ideas to partners
  • Advanced motivational and negotiation skills
  • Arabic language skills an asset
