Overview

The Analyst for CCAR (Capital Adequacy) will be responsible for supporting Northern Trust’s ongoing Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (CAAP). The role will allow for cross training opportunities and knowledge transfer of processes from on-site and Northern Trust partners in other offices.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Capital Adequacy team and will help drive the development and maintenance of reports, results, and source files used for various Capital Adequacy-related responsibilities, for example: annual Capital Plan aggregation and reporting leveraging on the Hyperion aggregation tool; data support of the Capital Plan Narrative; automation of various capital adequacy processes; refinement of internal controls related to capital adequacy assessment work; assisting with the production of Capital Committee and Capital Governance Committee of the Board reporting; and, additional capital adequacy related roles as needed.

Skills Required:

The prospective candidate will be an enthusiastic team member who will be able to support the CAAP. The candidate will need to be able to follow documented procedures, which will allow the candidate to create, review, and produce detailed capital adequacy related reports. The candidate will need to be detail oriented and be able to identify and escalate source data and system issues to other Capital Adequacy partners. Ability to multitask and collaborate with other Business Units is desired.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the completion of Northern Trust's annual capital plan and quarterly capital adequacy assessments
  • Evaluate compliance with regulatory and internal requirements around capital adequacy
  • Aggregate data and conduct financial analyses related to capital management and stress testing
  • Prepare presentations, regulatory reports, and documentation of processes and results
  • Conduct a range of financial analyses with both internal and external data, with a focus on capital adequacy and management
  • Support work between Finance Technology, Capital Adequacy, and Business Units as it relates to technology enhancements
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing of technology enhancements, and developing End User Computing compliant documentation

Relevant Experience and Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative field
  • Exposure in Financial Services industry is a plus
  • Familiarity with bank balance sheets and income statements is preferred
  • Proficiency with Office 365 applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneDrive, and Teams; proficiency in business intelligence systems (e.g., Cognos, TM1, Hyperion, etc.) is a plus
  • Familiarity with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and investigative problem-solving talents
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change with the ability to manage multiple deliverables concurrently
  • Self-motivated and intellectually curious with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams
