Division Description

The Finance & Accounting Division is made up of a number of core finance teams both at business unit and Group level. We perform a key management and control function in ensuring all Group financial and management reporting processes are appropriately governed.

The Finance Division has overall responsibility for driving the Group budgeting and forecasting process, developing Group-focused financial insight and analysis and delivering the Group's statutory, regulatory and external reporting. We do this through collaborative business partnering in each of the Divisions and with centralised Finance shared / specialist services.

Description of business unit

Financial Control is responsible for delivering inputs into statutory, management, regulatory, and external reporting, ensuring the right controls are in place.

Financial Control work closely with stakeholders across the Group and third parties to ensure that there is a continued focus on delivering a culture of service excellence, developing our people and supporting the achievement of the Group's strategic priorities.

The Markets & Treasury (M&T) Financial Control team is responsible for the controlling and reporting on the M&T financial statements, as well as delivering certain regulatory returns related to the Group's Liquid Asset Book and Derivative portfolio. The team work closely with other teams in the wider M&T Finance team.

Purpose of the Role

The role manages the output of a work stream which is responsible for the M&T Derivatives and Other Assets & Liabilities reporting. The role-holder will support the Divisional Financial Controller and Commercial Partners on production of regular deliverables, as well as supporting on other strategic initiatives. The role supports the M&T Financial Control Team in completing its financial reporting, controlling and analysis of the M&T division.

The role holder has responsibility in the delivery of timely and accurate financial and management information to support effective decision making and review. In addition it is expected that the role holder will help drive the roll out of best practice in process improvement and systems enhancement. The role holder also has people manager responsibilities with a team of three reporting into the role.

Key Accountabilities

  • Production of MI related to Derivatives.
  • Rationalize key derivative variances to for presentation and review with senior management
  • Review and sign off on the FinRep reporting for Derivative balances and selected other FINREP tables on a quarterly basis.
  • Presentation of elements of quarterly financial review pack to finance lead for M&T.
  • Interact with colleagues in the wider Markets and Treasury finance team and other Finance teams to ensure best practice in all areas of the role.
  • Working with colleagues across the Group, ensuring effective collaboration, communication and development of solutions.
  • Provide support as required to Commercial Partners.

The Markets & Treasury Financial Control role is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious financial accountant,looking to expand their knowledge and experience of Banking and Derivative products.

The role holder will have the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to senior management and other key stakeholders in the Group as the key point of contact for information on the Group's Derivative portfolio.

This job can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin to which travel will be required for in person collaboration. Exact frequency to be agreed with manager.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of financial accounting and reporting
  • Demonstrated experience of delivery to tight reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Excel.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Experience in the banking sector.
  • Knowledge of SAP general ledger and the Summit treasury platform.
  • Experience of driving for change, with the initiative and courage to challenge the status quo.
